Step Three: Describe a typical competition day and calculate appropriate key macronutrient recommendations. 6. What is your athlete’s pre-event carbohydrate need? Write 2-3 complete sentences about which “acute feeding strategies” you think are appropriate for your athlete on this competition day that you described and provide a full credit calculation answer (see Question #5 for example) for each strategy. HINT: Everyone needs to at least calculate your athlete’s pre-event carbohydrate needs using EITHER the “general fueling up” or the “carbohydrate loading” recommendations under “acute fueling strategies” on page 508.
