Prepare a 4-5 page report, not including the cover page and the reference page. You should use a minimum of two resources for this report. One resource can be your textbook; the second should be an outside resource. Use the outline below. Use the text in bold font for the headings in your report. Your report must contain the following points and information as outlined in the tabs below: ***INTRODUCTION – (Remember: Introduction is not a heading; the Running head serves this purpose.) Your introduction should define critical thinking and present evidence on how critical thinking is different from conventional thinking. Describe how shifting thoughts in order to be more critical help your workplace practice by being inventive, challenging ideas, seeing things from another perspective, and practicing metacognition. You may include any other concepts learned throughout each week. ***EMPTYING YOUR BUCKET – Discuss how emptying your bucket gives you the headspace to begin to think critically through a conversation. Explain how you could have used this concept more productively in the past. Use your LHC as a reference. Explain whether or not there was an opportunity to use the “emptying your bucket” tool for a more desirable outcome of this conversation. *** ONE TRAP IN DECISION MAKING – (READ ATTACHMENT) Look at the LHC. Identify one trap in your thinking process that contributed to the undesired outcome. Discuss how you can avoid decision pitfalls by applying critical thinking. *** REFLECTIVE JUDGEMENT – Discuss how reflective judgment will make this conversation run more smoothly. Was there any reactive decision-making present? Reflect on how taking a step back can prevent instant decisions and help to create more constructive solutions and conversations. *** SOCIETAL NORMS AND GROUPTHINK Reflect upon how societal norms and groupthink impact critical thinking. Analyze how these may have affected your LHC situation. *** STARTING WITH WHY – Present Simon Sinek’s “Start With Why” strategy. Discuss how this strategy promotes critical thinking. Explain how a why approach would have helped your LHC conversation and future conversations. *** METACOGNITION – Describe metacognition. Present how metacognition presents an opportunity to reveal new insights. How will metacognition impact your future conversations and decisions? *** CONCLUSION – Tie together all of these concepts to explain how your thinking will go from automatic to critical thinking. You might include any “aha” moments you experienced about any of these concepts.
